Welcome to Meri Shop (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
When you use our app, we collect the following information:
Our app only requires Internet access permission to communicate with our servers and upload data securely. We do not request any permissions to access your device’s photos, media, or camera directly. When you choose to upload images, the app uses your device’s native photo picker, which allows you to select photos without granting the app direct access to your media or storage. This ensures your privacy and control over your files. We only access the photos or files that you explicitly select and do not access or store any other data from your device. Location: Our app may request access to your device’s location only when you choose to use location-based features such as "Find Nearby Shops". We use this location information to provide you with nearby shop listings. Location data is stored securely on our servers and is used solely for this purpose. You can disable location access anytime from your device settings.
The app tracks how many times a user's profile is viewed. This view count is stored securely in our database and is only visible to the respective user. We do not share this data with any third parties.
All shop-related data including shop name,shop image(profile),posts, owner name, city, state, address,contact(phone number or email), view count and status or note is stored securely on our backend servers hosted on AWS and saved in a MongoDB database.
This information is publicly visible to all users of the app when browsing or searching shops.
The status field is flexible, allowing shop owners to enter any text describing their shop’s current state.
Uploaded images are securely stored on our cloud storage (such as AWS S3 and MongoDB) and are not shared with any third parties.
When you sign up using your Gmail account, the app opens the Google Account Chooser modal directly without requesting any additional device permissions such as location or contacts.
This ensures a quick, secure, and privacy-friendly sign-up process.
We only access your email address for authentication purposes.
Our app allows users to enter and upload content that is publicly visible to other users. This includes:
All of this information is provided voluntarily by users when creating or updating their shop profile. Since this content is publicly visible to other users, please ensure it does not contain any private, sensitive, abusive, or false information.
We reserve the right to remove any user-generated content that violates our content policy or applicable laws. Users who repeatedly post inappropriate content may have their accounts suspended or removed.

You can save your favorite shops locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
Favorites data is stored only on your device. It is automatically deleted when you log out, and you can also manually remove it anytime from within the app.
Your authentication token is also removed securely on logout to protect your privacy.
After creating a shop, you can edit certain information such as:
Deletion of your Gmail account data or shop can be performed directly from the Settings section within the app. If you wish to permanently remove your data from our servers, please go to the Home screen, tap the top-right corner menu,click advance Setting and select the "Delete Account" option. Follow the confirmation steps to complete the process.
Once your account is deleted, all associated data including your Gmail login, shop information, and any related personal content is permanently removed from our system. We do not store or retain any of your data after successful deletion.
Note: Simply uninstalling or deleting the app from your phone does not remove your account or data from our servers. Your account will remain active unless you delete it yourself using the in-app option as explained above.
We are fully committed to data privacy and comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding user data collection, access, modification, and deletion. Your information is handled with utmost security and respect.

Users can report any shop or user for inappropriate content or policy violations by contacting our team via email(merishopapp.in@gmail.com).
All reports are sent securely to our team via email.
Our dedicated moderation team reviews all reports and takes necessary action including warnings, suspension, or removal of violating content.
This ensures a safe and trustworthy environment for all users.
Logging out removes all local favorite shops and your login authentication token from your device.
This prevents unauthorized access and keeps your data safe.
Our app does not use cookies. However, it may use local storage (such as AsyncStorage) to store user preferences or login information securely on your device.
We follow all relevant laws and regulations including Indian data protection laws.
Our app is not intended for children under 18 years old.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Information is shared only with trusted service providers who help us operate the app and maintain servers, under strict confidentiality.
In accordance with applicable laws, we may share user information with government authorities or law enforcement agencies if legally required to do so, such as through a valid court order or official investigation.
Ads and Monetization: Our app shows ads using Google AdMob. These ads are provided by Google and may include third-party advertisers. AdMob may use your device’s Advertising ID (AD_ID) to deliver relevant ads, prevent fraud, and improve ad performance. We do not sell or share your personal information with advertisers.
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
We use HTTPS to securely transmit user data between the app and our services.
Security, safety, and integrity are integral parts of our services. We may use your information to verify accounts and activities, combat harmful conduct, protect users against spam or abuse, and ensure our services are being used legally and respectfully. This includes investigating suspicious activities or violations of our Terms and policies.

The Meri Shop app provides chat and voice call functionality to help users communicate securely.
All chats are transmitted and stored using secure HTTPS connections.
Chat messages are temporarily saved in our MongoDB database and automatically deleted after a fixed time period to protect your privacy.
Voice calls use your device’s microphone and are transmitted in real time. We do not record, store, or share any call audio.
Our backend is hosted using AWS App Runner, where instances may change dynamically. However, all communications remain fully encrypted and secure at all times.
Users can report or block other users directly from the chat screen in case of unwanted or inappropriate communication.
We strictly prohibit harassment, abuse, or sharing of sensitive or harmful content. Any violation may result in account suspension or permanent ban.
Permissions Used:
All permissions are used solely to enable these features and can be revoked anytime via your device settings.
The Meri Shop app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send important notifications, such as chat messages, call alerts, and app updates.
We do not share or sell any notification data to third parties. All communications remain protected and handled in compliance with Google’s data protection standards.
The Meri Shop app allows users to upload and share video content as part of posts and shop-related updates.
This app allows delivery of orders through shop and delivery partners.
Some locations such as religious places (temples, mosques, gurudwaras, churches) or secure/private areas may have restricted delivery. In such cases, order acceptance is optional for both shop and delivery partner.
Shop owners can accept or reject any order based on location, item type, or safety concerns. Once an order is accepted, the shop is responsible for correct packaging and item accuracy.
Delivery partners may accept or reject delivery requests based on location or safety. After accepting an order, safe and proper delivery is their responsibility.
Users must provide correct address and details. Misuse of restricted locations or incorrect information may lead to order cancellation.
Some items may require extra care or may be restricted for delivery in certain areas. Acceptance of such orders is optional for shop and delivery partner.
Once an order is accepted, responsibility lies with the accepting party (shop or delivery partner). All parties have the right to reject before acceptance.
Meri Shop operates as an online platform that enables users, sellers, shops, delivery personnel and other participants to interact and, where applicable, facilitate transactions through the platform.
Each user, seller, shop owner and delivery personnel is solely responsible for their own actions, conduct, information, content, products, communications and activities carried out through the Meri Shop platform.
Meri Shop shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, claim, dispute, penalty, liability or expense arising primarily from the independent acts, omissions, misconduct, negligence, fraud, misrepresentation, illegal activity or breach of applicable law by a user, seller, shop owner, delivery personnel or other third party, except to the extent such liability cannot legally be excluded or is directly caused by Meri Shop's own legally actionable conduct.
The seller/shop owner is primarily responsible for the quality, quantity, authenticity, legality, safety, condition, expiry status, packaging, description, pricing, warranty and other characteristics of products or services listed or supplied by the seller.
Meri Shop does not manufacture, produce, own or independently guarantee every product listed by an independent seller on the platform.
Any complaint relating to defective, damaged, expired, counterfeit, adulterated, incorrect, misrepresented, incomplete, substituted or otherwise non-conforming products may be investigated by Meri Shop. The seller may be required to provide invoices, licences, proof of authenticity, product information, photographs, transaction records or other supporting documents.
Where a seller is found, after appropriate review, to have violated applicable law, platform rules or customer-protection requirements, Meri Shop may remove or restrict the relevant listing, suspend or restrict the seller's account, prevent further transactions, or take other action permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in this section removes any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.
A seller may upload product photographs, descriptions, brand names, logos, trademarks, videos or other material only where the seller has the necessary rights, permission, licence or other lawful basis to use such material.
A seller must not knowingly upload or use another person's or company's copyrighted material, trademark, logo, brand image, product photograph or other intellectual property without authorization or a lawful basis.
The seller is responsible for claims arising from content uploaded or supplied by the seller, including intellectual-property, trademark, copyright, misleading-advertising or unauthorized-brand-use claims, subject to applicable law.
Meri Shop may remove, disable, restrict or refuse content where it receives a complaint, identifies a potential violation, or reasonably considers such action necessary for legal compliance, safety, fraud prevention or protection of users and the platform.
Users and sellers must provide accurate and non-misleading information while creating accounts, shops, product listings, orders, reviews, complaints and other platform activity.
Users and sellers must not intentionally provide false, fabricated, incomplete or misleading information, impersonate another person or business, manipulate orders or reviews, submit fraudulent complaints, create fake transactions, or otherwise attempt to obtain an improper financial or other benefit.
Where Meri Shop reasonably suspects such activity, it may investigate the matter and may temporarily restrict the relevant account, listing, transaction or payment-related activity, subject to applicable law and applicable payment-provider requirements.
The following activities are prohibited on Meri Shop:
Meri Shop may take appropriate action against accounts involved in such conduct, including warning, content removal, temporary restriction, suspension, termination, transaction restriction or other action permitted by applicable law.
Any abusive, threatening, fraudulent, misleading or otherwise inappropriate conduct by a customer, seller, shop owner or delivery personnel in connection with an order may be investigated by Meri Shop.
Meri Shop may review available information, including order records, timestamps, communications, complaint details, transaction information and other relevant records, subject to applicable law and privacy requirements.
Depending on the circumstances, Meri Shop may temporarily restrict an account, cancel or prevent further transactions, remove listings, suspend services or take other appropriate measures.
Where Meri Shop reasonably suspects fraud, unauthorized activity, false information, product-related misconduct, serious customer complaints, disputed transactions, abusive conduct, manipulation of orders or reviews, policy violations, illegal activity, payment irregularities or other circumstances requiring verification, Meri Shop may temporarily place a hold, delay or restriction on a pending seller settlement or other amount that has not yet been finally released, to the extent permitted by applicable law and the applicable payment-provider terms.
Any such hold may remain in place for the period reasonably necessary to investigate or resolve the relevant issue.
Meri Shop may request supporting information or documents from the relevant user or seller before releasing, adjusting or processing the affected amount.
A temporary hold does not by itself constitute a final determination of wrongdoing. Where the investigation establishes that an amount is payable, refundable, recoverable or otherwise required to be released under applicable law, the applicable transaction and payment rules shall be followed.
Meri Shop will not use this provision to unlawfully withhold amounts that are legally required to be refunded or paid.
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their account credentials, devices, authentication methods and payment-related information.
Users must immediately report suspected unauthorized access, account compromise, fraudulent activity or suspicious transactions through the designated support or complaint channel.
Meri Shop may temporarily suspend or restrict an account or transaction where reasonably necessary to protect the account, users, sellers, payment systems or platform from suspected unauthorized or fraudulent activity.
Meri Shop shall not be responsible for losses resulting from a user's failure to maintain reasonable security of their credentials, device, authentication information or payment information, except to the extent liability arises from circumstances that cannot legally be excluded or from Meri Shop's own legally actionable failure.
Meri Shop takes reasonable measures appropriate to its services to maintain the security and availability of its platform. However, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure or continuously available.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Meri Shop shall not be responsible for losses arising solely from unauthorized access, hacking, cyber attacks, malware, viruses, denial-of-service attacks, credential compromise, third-party attacks, telecommunications failures, internet failures or other security incidents that are beyond Meri Shop's reasonable control.
This limitation does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability arising from Meri Shop's own legally actionable acts or omissions where applicable.
Meri Shop may depend on third-party services for payment processing, authentication, communications, hosting, maps, notifications, delivery-related services and other technical functionality.
Meri Shop shall not be responsible for failures, delays, interruptions or losses caused solely by a third-party service provider, banking institution, payment gateway, telecommunications provider, internet service provider or other external service, except to the extent required by applicable law.
Payment disputes, reversals, failed transactions, unauthorized transactions and refunds may also be subject to the applicable terms and procedures of the relevant payment provider.
To protect users, sellers, delivery personnel and the platform, Meri Shop may investigate suspected violations of its policies, transaction irregularities, fraud, complaints, misleading information, intellectual-property concerns, product-related complaints, spam, abuse, security incidents or other suspicious activity.

Meri Shop may determine the appropriate action based on the available evidence and circumstances of each case, subject to applicable law.
Users and sellers are responsible for the content, information, photographs, descriptions, reviews, messages and other material that they upload, submit or communicate through Meri Shop.
Users must not submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, misleading, abusive, threatening, infringing, impersonating, harmful or otherwise prohibited under applicable law or Meri Shop's rules.
Meri Shop may remove, restrict or disable access to content where permitted or required by applicable law or where reasonably necessary to enforce platform rules and protect users.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Meri Shop shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or unforeseeable losses arising from interactions or transactions between users, sellers, shops, delivery personnel or other third parties.
Meri Shop does not guarantee that every seller, product, delivery person, user-provided statement, photograph, listing or third-party service will always be accurate, available, safe, authentic, uninterrupted or error-free.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy, Terms, Order Policy or any other platform policy shall be interpreted as excluding or limiting any liability, consumer right, refund, remedy or obligation that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, a user, seller, shop owner or other platform participant may be responsible for losses, claims, damages, penalties, costs or expenses arising from their own unlawful conduct, fraud, negligence, intentional misconduct, breach of platform rules, infringement of third-party rights, misleading information, unauthorized content or violation of applicable law.
This provision does not apply to the extent that the relevant loss was caused by Meri Shop's own acts or omissions or where such indemnification is prohibited by applicable law.
Meri Shop does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of the application, website, payment systems, messaging, notifications, delivery services, location services or other platform features.
Services may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, software or hardware failures, internet or telecommunications issues, third-party service interruptions, security incidents, force majeure events or other circumstances beyond reasonable control.
All rights and actions described in this policy are subject to applicable laws and regulations.
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove, restrict or waive any statutory consumer protection, refund right, privacy right, payment right, grievance mechanism or other legal right that cannot lawfully be waived.

Our app allows users to sign in using their Google account.
We may receive basic information such as your name, email address as permitted by Google.
This information is used only for authentication and providing app functionality.
We do not access or store your Google account password.
This section applies specifically to users who access the Meri Shop app on iOS devices.
Sign in with Apple: The Meri Shop app may allow users to sign in using Sign in with Apple. When you choose Sign in with Apple, authentication is securely handled through Apple’s authentication services.
Depending on your Apple account settings, Apple may provide your name and email address to the app. If you choose to hide your email address, Apple may provide a private relay email address instead.
We use the information provided through Sign in with Apple only for account creation, authentication, account management, and providing app services.
We do not access or store your Apple Account password.
iOS Permissions: The app requests iOS device permissions only when required for specific features and with your permission.
The app does not request access to your photos, videos, microphone, contacts, or location solely for account sign-in.
Only the information or files that you explicitly provide or select for a particular feature are used for that feature.
You can manage or revoke permissions at any time through your iOS device settings.
Apple Services: Certain authentication and platform services on iOS may be provided through Apple’s services. Apple may process information according to Apple’s applicable privacy policies and terms.
Subscriptions: Meri Shop does not currently offer subscription-based services on iOS. If subscription-based features are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy and applicable terms may be updated accordingly.
